Understand sales tax for paid Tickets

Know what Maaya automates today and what remains the organizer's responsibility.

For supported United States, USD, in-person paid admission, an eligible Headliner Event can use connected Checkout and Stripe Tax to calculate and collect sales tax.

The Event needs:

  • A ready Stripe connected account with charges and payouts enabled.
  • A validated in-person performance location.
  • An explicit Event tax-handling choice.
  • Active Stripe tax registrations where collection is required.
  • Paid Ticket and publication readiness.

Stripe calculates tax from the Event and Ticket information Maaya sends for the Order. Maaya keeps the quoted tax evidence with the reservation and Order.

The connected organizer remains the seller and tax-liable party. Automation does not replace the organizer's responsibility to determine registration obligations, maintain active registrations, file returns, remit tax, or obtain professional advice. Maaya does not provide tax or legal advice.

Virtual and hybrid Events, non-US tax systems, non-USD sales, tax-inclusive pricing, merchandise, donations, optional add-ons, exchanges, and partial refunds are outside the first connected-tax release.
